NDG is family housing — and family housing has its own grime

Bungalows and two-storey homes between Cavendish and Decarie, with a backyard, a basement, and a hallway that carries everything in from the driveway. Three seasons of shoes at the door, a dog on the hardwood, school bags landing where they land.

The trouble spots are predictable: the entry floor that shows every wet paw print, the bathroom the teenagers use, the kitchen that never quite catches up on weekends.

A visit every week or two resets all of it, so the weekend is for Coronation Park or the Allan Gardens run, not for catching up.

Weekly or bi-weekly in NDG?

Weekly fits the fullest households: two kids, a pet, a kitchen that gets real use three times a day. The whole house restarts every seven days.

Bi-weekly is the most common rhythm here and works when upkeep is shared between visits. The kitchen, bathrooms and floors get the deep pass while the household keeps the rest tidy.

Monthly is available as a lighter option — and clients often step it up for a season, then back down. Same cleaner every visit, pay after the clean, no contract: change or cancel with 48 hours' notice.

Every recurring visit covers

• Kitchen: counters, stovetop, sink, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, the breakfast table
• Bathrooms: tub and shower scrubbed, toilets disinfected, sinks, mirrors, tile floors washed
• Bedrooms and living areas: beds made, furniture dusted, clutter gathered to where you choose
• Floors: vacuumed, then F275 steam cleaning — heat sanitizes hardwood and tile, safe for pets and kids once dry

Homes here often have a finished basement and a spare bathroom, both of which are in the standard rotation — no surcharge for "extra" rooms.

The regular-cleaner difference, NDG edition

In a family home, memory is everything. The cleaner who comes back knows the hallway mat takes two minutes on its own, that the downstairs bathroom needs the fan left on, that the dog is friendly but should be let out before the mopping starts.

Good to know in NDG

Parking: most NDG streets have open parking, but a few blocks near Sherbrooke and Cavendish require a residential permit. If your cleaner can use the driveway, even better — tell us when you book.

Access: many homes here have a side door or a back-door key arrangement. Whatever you prefer — you're home, a lockbox, a key under arrangement — we'll set it up on the first visit.

Winter salt: from December, wet boots mark entry tile and hardwood halls. Steam cleaning lifts the salt film without leaving residue that attracts more dust.

School season: September and June are the two big reset months — summer gear away, school-year rhythm starting. A recurring schedule absorbs both without a special deep appointment.

NDG house cleaning FAQ

We have a dog and two kids. Does that change the visit?

Only in the good way: we plan for it. Pet hair on hardwood responds well to the F275 steam pass, and school-day pickups mean the house gets messy in a pattern your regular cleaner learns by the second or third visit.

Can you come while the kids are home from school?

Yes. Many NDG families book the visit for a school morning or an after-school window. Your cleaner works around the routine — naps, homework, snack time — without needing you to step in.

My basement has a half bathroom and a rec room. Included?

Included. Bathrooms and living spaces below the main floor are part of the standard visit, not an extra. Tell us the room count when you book and the price is settled before we arrive.

Weekly or bi-weekly for a family of four?

Weekly, usually. A household of four with a pet has a baseline of mess that bi-weekly struggles to beat. Start there if you like, then move to weekly — the change takes 48 hours, no penalty.

Is there a transportation fee for NDG?

No. There are no transportation fees anywhere on the Island of Montreal. From $105 is the starting price of the visit itself.

Do I get the same cleaner every visit?

Yes, that's how we work. Your cleaner learns your home — which bathroom needs the fan, where the dog leash hangs — and keeps your standard between visits. If someone is away, we tell you who's coming instead.
